Job description:
Are you a strong Buyer with good purchasing and negotiating skills gained from working within the food industry sector, and have experience of dealing with and managing UK and International Suppliers? If so then this could be the role for you.
Our client is an established, food industry manufacturer/supplier offering a wide range of both own manufactured products and quality foodstuffs from a wide range of UK and overseas suppliers.
The Buyer role is an exciting and challenging role, where the responsibilities of the Buyer will be wide ranging and will require you to work with established systems and processes, to ensure the business has the lowest possible cost base to offer the high service levels demanded by its discerning clients.
Within this position you will ensure that the availability of the right products, at the right price, of the right quality/quantity is in the right time – consistently. Ensures that products specifications are complete, current and communicated to suppliers and that the demand is appropriately planner/forecasted. You must negotiate the most competitive pricing from suppliers with preferential terms and, constantly ensure that the most competitive shipping terms and rates are achieved. It is absolutely vital that you ensure that no sale(s) opportunity is lost due to either non-availability and/or at a competitive price.
It is essential that you maintain excellent supplier relations as well as develop new and alternative supplies to seek the best prices, quality and lead times. Part of this role will also entail you looking at and discussing with suppliers on matters such as new product development and partake in new supplier development activity.
Other key elements to this position are:
• Reporting on Key Commodity prices and market.
• Liaise with Logistic/Scheduling to procure raw materials and bought in finished goods to agreed specifications
• Negotiate with supplier UK, European and International, contract prices and time scales
• Submit budget pricing / forecasting as required by finance
• Ensures the business complies and meets all legal, ethical and community standards
• You should have a minimum of 3 or more years of proven experience as a Buyer with a Food Company.
• You should be capable of ensuring that the business makes its commercial /procurement decisions based on best practice, rigorous contract conditions and management of risk.
• You should a confident, driven team player with the ability to negotiate and work in a fast paced environment
