Interviews are a very challenging time in anyone’s career, maybe you are trying to land your first job. Maybe you are returning to a work place, or maybe you are just taking another step towards the next rung in your career ladder.

Whatever your individual situation it is absolutely vital that you make a success of interview if you are to achieve that which you are trying to seek.

We can point you in all the right directions and coach you for potential questions to ask but the most important ones to consider are the ones that you should be asking yourself about why you are attending this interview.

  Why am I looking for this role?

  Can you see yourself doing this role day in day out for the foreseeable future?

  Is this the right move?

  Am I moving solely for financial reasons? If so have I asked my current boss for the money I really require to live?

There are many questions you can ask yourself but those are but a few which you need to be sure about before embarking on an interview. We put a lot of time and effort in ensuring we match your needs and wants to our client’s requirements and the last thing we want is to try and match a square peg for a round hole and to put you into a potentially stressful situation and you end up staying where you are anyway.

  Interview Preparation

You will need to fully prepare for your up and coming interview, you should identify a few things before and these are:

  Company research and background information

  What transferable skills do I have for this role

  What are my personal and professional strengths/weaknesses

  Why should they employ me

  Things to take to interview

  Company literature/research

  Copies of your current CV

  A list of questions to ask

  A notepad to take any notes

  First Impressions

Remember first impressions count and there are basic common sense rules to follow any interview. You should dress appropriately which means being clean shaven with limited jewellery on display. Its is always best to stick to conservative business wear for most interviews, if you are unsure of what is suitable please either speak to your consultant or attend Jobs in the Office with your attire and we will inform you of its suitability.

When you arrive at interview offer a firm handshake and maintain eye contact during your interview. Keep you body language open and don’t smoke, it is also advisable to refrain from entering topic which has contentious issues.

  Questions which I will be asked and what should I ask?

Each interviewer has their own unique style of interviewing and what questions they are required to ask which will assertain if you are the candidate they are seeking, general questions which may be asked are:

 Tell me something about yourself.

 What do you know about the company?

 What are your strengths/weaknesses?

 Why should we hire you?

 What do you know about this role?

There are many other questions which can be raised. We will always do our best to support you in your interview and that means coaching you. Please discuss questions which may be raised with your consultant who will be more than happy to discuss this or any other questions you may have.

It is always good to prepare a list of questions to ask the interviewer, please ask your consultant for advice here.

  Ending

Once the interview is ended always thank the interviewer for the time and opportunity to see them, offer a firm handshake and smile.
