Job description:

My client is an FMCG manufacturer based in Brackley Northamptonshire and due to internal promotion is now seeking to recruit a Management Accountant to support the Finance Manager.  It is essential that you are a CIMA and/or ACCA Finalist or qualified.
This position is to maintain procedures which ensure the factory production and accounting processes are demonstrably   under financial control by generating cost and performance information that assist the management and supports the commercial decision making processes.
The main duties and responsibilities are:
• To reconcile bill-of-material and finished goods stock movement weekly (understanding the source of all variances).
• To create and control both financial & non-financial inputs to the weekly and monthly management accounts (including all ledger entries) to ensure they are accurate, auditable and have integrity.
• To reconcile balance sheet accounts on a weekly and monthly basis, highlighting discrepancies to the Finance Manager.
• To take ownership of miscellaneous financial matters at location.

Operational Accounting
• To fully understand and keep current with factory processes, yields and rates of production and use this information to generate consistent benchmarked product and process costs.
• To use relevant information to participate fully in site decision making by identifying and evaluating operating problems/opportunities.
• To assist the Finance Manager working with the site logistics and planning team to match costs and activity and seek opportunities to reduce waste, increase efficiency and optimise use of raw material and capacity.
• To analyse labour costs including cost of shift patterns, overtime, temporary labour and variance against standards.
• To assist in the publication of the weekly Management Accounts with accompanying financial and operational commentary presented to Management.

 Commercial Planning & Business Analysis
• To regularly provide central commercial planning with current yields, rates of production, product and process costs identifying areas of opportunity.
• To work with factory and commercial management to produce cost information on new product and process development proposals.
• To maintain and develop KPI’s and scorecards for all areas of the business and ensuring processes in place for capturing data.

Budgeting
• To assist the Finance Manager to create budgets and financial forecasts from which site based targets for cost and performance are generated and used to keep the factory focused on delivering against their KPIs.

You must have worked in a manufacturing/FMCG environment and have an understanding of product costing in manufacturing.  You will also have worked in an analytical capacity and be able to demonstrate a link between analysis and process improvement/cost reduction.
