Description
Due to expansion and development within their growing organization, our manufacturing, engineering and construction sector client based in Reading is seeking to recruit a Buyer into their team.

Main responsibilities

*Collaborate with the Supply Chain Manager and Purchasing Assistant to share out the purchasing enquiries.
*Promptly multisource for price and availability, collate information and seek approval from Supply Chain Manager before placing orders over 10k.
*Negotiate contracts, improve prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilising negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods
*Build, maintain and manage supplier relationships and keep up good communications.
*Assess and evaluate suppliers and contribute to performance reviews to ensure contract compliance.
*Use Sage/Newforma to issue orders and record any price revisions or agreed changes.
*Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery or invoice issues and record relevant data in Sage.
*Monitor and advise on any issues which present risk or opportunity to the organisation.
*Check off supplier invoices and clarify all discrepancies to ensure prompt supplier payment.
*Complete Purchasing reports as requested and update internal pricing spreadsheets.

*Provide analysis on costs, new and existing and review cost reduction activities.
*Keep CMs informed so they do not need to chase up, use initiative to help support CMs and deal with queries in the timely manner.
*Conduct research for new components and suppliers.
*Support the purchasing function and other relevant departments and communicate any supply problems which may impact on business operations.
*Adhere to any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of self, staff and visitors.
*Ensure compliance to company policies, guidelines, purchasing policies and procedures including planning your time, responding to emails and phone calls promptly, submitting timesheets, attending staff meetings and team meetings.

*Keen attention to detail and accuracy
*Computer literate, with Excel and Sage skills
*Able to read technical drawings

Required Experience/Knowledge
*Previous experience of working in a purchasing team preferably within construction or manufacturing environment
*Good knowledge of purchasing, negotiation, commercial understanding and cost breakdown
*Studying towards CIPS or similar qualification would be beneficial but not essential
