- Description
- Our client, a successful and independent manufacturer of specialist paints and coatings for buildings both in the UK and overseas, is seeking a Coatings Chemist to join their team.
Located in the Bicester area, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
Development of coating/paint products to meet market requirements.
Maintaining knowledge of market trends within the company's market sector.
Evaluation of alternative raw materials for existing products.
Refinement of production processes
Technical service both on-site and by telephone/email.
Site inspections relating to specifications or coating failures
Liaising with raw material suppliers
Maintaining compliance with regulatory matters concerning labelling, transport, safety data etc.
Working closely with all members of the company including production and commercial aspects.
Developing a good working relationship
Person specification:
Analytical mind and good communicator.
Sufficient knowledge in order to be able to develop a rapid understanding of the areas of chemistry involved in the formulation of coatings/paints including:
Polymer chemistry especially related to water borne acrylic dispersions, solvented acrylic polymers, polyurethanes, silicones and alkyd resins.
Pigment chemistry related to both organic and inorganic types.
Surface chemistry especially related to dispersant's and wetting additives and rheological additives.
Inorganic minerals used as fillers.
Biocidal products
Our client has an excellent track record in large commercial projects and home improvements, and they offer a range of high quality, professional products that are well known in the industry for their application and performance over time.
Candidates will have a minimum qualification of Chemistry A-levels (or equivalent) and be seeking a chemistry related role within a commercial business operation.
Working hours are from 9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday. Together with offering an attractive salary, the successful candidate will receive full training to become a specialist in this area.
