- Principal Purpose of Job (including main objectives)
To deliver professional quality engineering service to the business with primary focus on Manufacturing Quality control requirements.
Desirable Qualifications, Experience & Training.
Essential:
Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship plus three years experience in a quality related function.
PC literate with competence in Microsoft Office.
Ability to train employees in quality related subjects.
Sound knowledge of inspection techniques, including:
-the ability to interpret mechanical engineering drawings and determine appropriate measuring techniques
-the ability to produce credible management reports
Sound knowledge of programming CNC CMMs, supported by a certificate of competence in CMM programming issued by the CMM manufacturer or agent.
Preferred:
ISO 9000 Auditor qualification.
Principal Responsibilities:
Inspection, including 1st off, patrol and outgoing.
Manufacturing liaison and reporting shortfalls to Manufacturing supervision.
Training of Operators in all aspects of inspection techniques and equipment. Including the preparation of inspection equipment work instruction.
Assisting in effective management of the entire measurement and test equipment calibration system.
Assisting in compilation of CMM programs in-line with Company standards to allow for their use by semi-skilled Operators
Setting of adjustable M&TE for use by Manufacturing Operators.
Hardness testing (both Brinell and Rockwell) and reporting for specific Customers as required.
Recommending and pursuing (when sanctioned) improvements to both Inspection and Quality techniques and equipment.
Translation of Customer quality requirements into detailed Manufacturing Instructions.
Compiling routine final inspection trend analysis and reports.
Compilation of Inspection report blanks.
Raising and following-up QA NCRs.
Compilation and submission of various Customer documentation packs
System and process audits up to completion as scheduled.
Supplier liaison on specific quality issues.
Other related duties as determined by the Quality Manager.
Key Performance Indicators
In addition to the annually defined Departmental KPIs
Minimal M&TE out of calibration.
No parts waiting final inspection for longer than 24 hours.
Final inspection analysis available by the 2nd Tuesday of each month.
