- Description
- Due to expansion our client is seeking to recruit a Project/Applications Engineer to fully support their manufacturing customer base with technical issue resolutions to ensure the correct application of product into their process.
This position is working for a market leading business that supplies technology manufacturing companies in the UK and Ireland, including electronics, medical devices, aerospace and automotive sectors.
You will be working in a very varied role providing engineering and technical support to customers and with many departments in the company. We are looking for someone with a diverse skill set, an enquiring mind and the desire to be exposed to a variety of learning and advancement opportunities.
The position is within the Technical Team and is a combination of practical hands-on engineering, project management and customer/colleague support. There will be interaction with customers by e-mail and telephone, face-to-face with customers visiting the company Technology Centre, and occasional off-site customer support visits. The company is not a manufacturer; however, they do provide product integration - the assembling and testing of multiple components into a piece of functional equipment. There are design elements to these integrations.
Key tasks
*Work with Sales to help gather technical information and assist with application projects, realise customer requirements into technical specifications and drawings
*Project manage larger equipment orders, including integration of components from different suppliers
*Specify, design and manage the third-party manufacturing of custom parts, electrical or control systems
*Assist with Technology Centre, workshop and demonstration equipment
*Assist with installation & training and demonstrations of equipment
*Create and maintain drawings and BOMs
*Organise and contribute to Technical Library
*Liaison with the technical departments/representatives of our suppliers/partners
*Collect, collate and present material and product properties
*Product development

*Compliance - RoHS, CE, REACH
Competencies
*Degree level qualification in an engineering subject would be preferred, although a HNC or B.Tech in Engineering, or equivalent through experience would be considered
*Ability to produce CAD drawings required
*Experience in a manufacturing or systems engineering environment or automation would be advantageous
*Knowledge of engineering design principles and material properties desired
*Knowledge of electrical control systems and component selection
*Soldering
