Job Title: Bookkeeper
Bookkeeper Salary: Up to £30,000 per annum (dependant on experience)
Reporting to: Finance Director
Contract: Permanent

Bookkeeper Job Summary:
Equation Recruitment are looking for someone, on behalf of our client, to carry out all bookkeeping duties up to trial balance stage, administer payroll and undertake VAT, payroll, and subcontractor tax submissions.
This role would suit someone looking for a long-term position and seeking a responsible, largely self-managed and highly respected bookkeeping role that they can make their own.
Bookkeeper Key Responsibilities:
- Purchase invoice processing
- Subcontractor application processing and subcontractor certification
- Raising/processing customer applications/invoices
- Processing cash receipts and payments
- Maintaining cash book
- Management of petty cash
- Bank reconciliations
- Maintaining schedules of prepayments and accruals
- Maintaining fixed assets schedule
- Processing month end routine/ month end journals
- Maintaining nominal ledger and nominal ledger reconciliations
- Updating short term cash flow forecast and cash collection spreadsheet (for credit controller)
- Payroll
- Quarterly VAT submissions
- Monthly PAYE/NIC and subcontractor tax submissions
- Year-end payroll tax returns (P60, P11d, etc)
- Preparation of year end pack for external accountants
- Ad hoc duties
Candidate Profile:
- Our client is seeking a highly organised, responsible, conscientious, and trustworthy individual who can manage their own time effectively, to assume day to day responsibility for the administration of our accounting function, reporting to and supported by the Finance Director.
- You do not require any formal accountancy qualifications, but we are seeking a person with demonstrable prior experience in bookkeeping/accounts administration roles and familiar with computerised accounting systems for SME businesses (ideally Sage 50).
- Previous experience at a company operating in the construction sector would be advantageous (as would experience using Construction Manager software by Eque2) but not essential.
- Prior experience of running a payroll would also be highly desirable.
- Excel and Word skills are essential.
