Location: Bicester, Oxfordshire | Hours: Full-time, 40 hours/week | Salary: £35,000-£37,500 (negotiable for exceptional candidates)

Equation Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of an employer who is a leading provider of engineering components and services, supplying blue-chip clients with over £25 million in products annually. With 25+ years in the industrial sector, they offer a comprehensive one-stop solution for maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) products, engineering services, and in-house fabrication.

The Role

We are seeking a technically skilled professional to support a busy purchasing team. Your focus will be on identifying, sourcing, and procuring machine parts, often from samples or pictures, and providing expert technical advice. While the role currently prioritises technical expertise, there is scope to expand responsibilities to include procurement strategy, supplier negotiations, and process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Source parts globally and liaise with suppliers.
  • Advise on in-house modification or re-engineering of components.
  • Support the procurement process from tender to delivery.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
  • Contribute to cost optimisation while ensuring quality standards.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams including engineering and fabrication.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Technical Buyer or similar procurement role within a manufacturing/MRO environment.
  • Strong mechanical/electrical engineering knowledge.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in IT systems, Microsoft Office, and procurement platforms.
  • Methodical, organised, and able to work under pressure.

Personal Attributes

  • Positive, proactive, and adaptable.
  • Solution-focused with the ability to think creatively.
  • Collaborative and approachable.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary with potential for negotiation
  • Company pension scheme
  • Free onsite parking

This is a full-time, permanent position based at the company's head office in Bicester. Immediate start preferred, but flexible for the right candidate.
