Associate Transport Planner
Experienced Chartered Transport Planner to establish and lead a Transport Planning team based in Manchester, working predominantly across the North West but also supporting projects across the company's Northern region. The role requires experience on development related transport planning projects, which would include masterplan and site appraisals, transport assessments and travel plans. This senior position would involve the undertaking of business development and work winning activities, including working closely with the Profession Director to build and manage a transport planning team.
The Manchester civil engineering team currently work collaboratively on challenging, high profile projects with our architects, engineers and designers across our Northern Region. The projects include the provision of civil engineering designs associated with building developments and public realm projects, from the early masterplanning stage through to delivery of solutions on site, highway infrastructure projects and civil engineering masterplanning including flood risk.
This new position seeks to add transport planning capabilities within their civil engineering team, allowing the company to engage clients at the earliest opportunity in their development plans. You would be responsible for the development and growth of the new team, working closely with the current civil engineering team to identify and create future infrastructure development opportunities.
The company also has a strong Urbanism team working across the UK on masterplanning and regeneration projects at the forefront of urban and public realm design practice. You will work closely with the Urbanism team providing knowledge of best practice in developing transport and movement strategies to help to deliver quality place making solutions.
Key Experience & Responsibilities
The role will include, but not be limited to, the following responsibilities:
*Undertaking and development of Site Access Appraisals
*Undertaking of Transport Statements, Transport Assessments, Environmental Assessments and Travel Plans
*Development of preliminary designs for highways schemes including access schemes and junction improvements
*Management and development of team members
*Development of client relationships
*Assisting directors in seeking out and securing new opportunities
*Resourcing and financial monitoring and reporting
*Developing good relationships with professions across BDP
Your knowledge, experience and education
*You will have proven experience working in a Transport Planning consultancy and be able to demonstrate strong client relationships.
*You will have a minimum of 5 years relevant post qualification (MCIHT) experience and good knowledge of civil engineering construction principles and standards.
*You will have strong practical knowledge of Junction 9 and preferably experience of transport microsimulation software.
*You will have a strong understanding of relevant local and national policy and guidance.
*You will be able to demonstrate experience of successful business development leading to the development of a good client portfolio.
