It will be your responsibility to:

*Hold review meetings with existing suppliers and lead the process of supplier performance management.
*Manage the negotiation process to agree terms (e.g. price, terms of business and lead times, arrangements to ensure performance and continuity of supply) with new suppliers, and existing suppliers who wish to extend their agreement.
Purchasing and Stock Management
*When forecasting upcoming demand and materials avoid excess surpluses and make effective use of existing stock where possible.
*Challenge current procedures and analyse key functional metrics to identify new ways of working to improve effectiveness and reduce expenditure.
*Monitor the procurement window, from receipt of sales order to open manufacturing order, ensuring that we meet the demands of our customer and where this is not possible, manage expectations accordingly.
*Represent the purchasing team in new product development initiatives.
*Support engineering on component selection in new or amended designs, provide guidance on component selection, support new supplier discussions and take the lead on new supplier approval.
Operations planning
*Work with operations manager, operations team leaders and other staff to ensure an up to date and complete plan for production is in place.
*Ensure on time and in full availability of materials and external services for achievement of the plan.
*Define the earliest start date of production for each order based on purchase order delivery date to guarantee that the order is deliverable by the promised date of completion.
*Maintain a comprehensive inventory control system to ensure that an adequate supply of parts (in line with plan) is available at all times.
