Description
I am looking for an Engineering Technician to join a very reputable, specialist organisation within Bicester who have experienced very rapid growth in recent years.

The company are looking for an individual who has a background in engineering and at least a C&G/NVQ, BTEC Diploma, Degree or equivalent in Engineering and at least 4 years practical experience in a busy machine workshop / production / research environment and familiar with a full range of machine tools, measuring equipment and processes.


Responsibilities of the role

*Manufacture, repair or modify engines, parts, jigs or components to drawings or instructions, completed to agreed specifications, tolerances, procedures, and deadlines.
*To ensure products are completed within allocated timescale.
*Assist the team when new or updated special instructions, drawings or build standards are required. Modify and up-issue drawings as required. Company documentation is always accurate and up-to-date.
*Ensure products are produced, and despatched to a high quality standard.
*To ensure plant, tools and equipment are serviced and maintained to ensure long life, minimal down time and cost effective running.
*Day to day organisation of work schedule issued.
*Responsibility for complying with Company Health & Safety policy and making suggestions to improve the Health & Safety in your own working environment.
*To undertake any induction or training courses as required.
*Ensure changes required to Build Standards, Special Instructions, Drawings, are brought to the attention of the relevant staff and ensure that they are updated and up-issued in line with Barrus Procedure Manual.
*Make suggestions to improve division's efficiency and profitability.

Ideal Experience (not essential)

* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
* Ability to use CAD.
* Welding and metal joining processes. (MIG and TIG)
* Machine shop skills.
* Engine building, repairs, diagnostic skills.
* Working knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act.
* Practical and theoretical working knowledge of engines (petrol & diesel).
* Marine engine knowledge beneficial. (In house product based training will be given).
* Team working & communication skills.
* Machining, welding and repair skills.

Working days are Monday to Thursday, 7:30am-4:30pm and Fridays 7:30am-12pm.

This is a 37.5 hour working week. Overtime is payable on extra hours worked - this can be useful on a Friday afternoon if required.
